7:10 This Week's Featured Poet: Raggedy Andey!
More on this week's feature:
¶Raggedy Andey is a poet and spoken-word artist born and raised in Santa Cruz, California. Raggedy Andey has been writing since the age of eight. Her poetry ranges from feminist slam poetry to dark metaphorical prose to intense self-reflection which has always been the role of writing in her life. ¶She is the Santa Cruz Legendary Collective’s Co-Slam Master and Grand Slam Champion 2015, and competed in the National Poetry Slam that year. Raggedy Andey continues to work in her local poetry community as a core organizer of the Santa Cruz Word Church—a weekly open mic/slam—and as a mentor and coach to many young poets of Santa Cruz. ¶As her renown continues to grow across Northern California, Raggedy Andey aspires to uplift the voices of young poets and encourage them to write loud. She has self published three original works, My Body that Comes off in Pieces (2014), The Powder Room (2016), and Portrait of an Infection (2018).
