  • The Museum of Art and History 705 Front Street Santa Cruz, CA, 95060 United States (map)

Come join us this coming Monday as usual to read, write, and share poems with one another, but as a competition this time. We'll be gathering in the Garden Room at the Museum of Art and History.

$2–7 cover fee at the door.

The night breaks down like this:

4:00–5:00     FREE Writing Workshop (sharing is optional)
5:30               Signup List Goes Out (10 slots, first-come, first-serve)
6:00–7:00     Slam Round One
7:00              "Highlighted" Poet: Jordan Ranft!
7:15–8:00      Slam Round Two

Our highlighted poet:

Jordan Ranft was on the Berkeley Slam Team in 2015, the year they took 3rd place overall at the national poetry slam. He likes to write and perform introspective and confessional poetry that is anchored in equal parts brutal truth and humor (which he thinks is just as effective at elucidating deeper revelations and emotional inferiority). He has been published in ‘Rust+Moth,’ ‘Midway,” ‘Into The Void,’ and elsewhere. He believes in good writing, good beards, and good pizza.

Jordan Ranft is very good at this thing.” -Some guy I made up

All ages, styles, backgrounds, beliefs, and needs are welcomed.

Respect is expected.

See you there,
