Word Church featuring Chris Harbster

  • Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History 705 Front Street Santa Cruz, CA, 95060 United States of America (map)

Come join us this coming Monday at the MAH to read, write, and scream poetry. We'll be gathering in the Garden Room, like we usually do, for a writing workshop followed by an open mic followed by a featured poet. Come through!

$2–7 cover fee at the door.

The night breaks down like this:

4:00 — FREE Writing Workshop (Sharing is Optional)
5:30 — Open Mic List Goes Out
6:00 — Poetry Begins!
7:00 — This Week's Featured Poet: Chris Harbster

More on this week's feature:

Chris Harbster is several parts attached to different means of communication. Almost grown-up in Phoenix and spread around the rest of the state of Arizona for a summed total of about 24 years, Chris has no appreciation for the politics there. The time spent elsewhere in America has helped put this into perspective. He has a strong faith in the medium of spoken word and from 2010 to 2011 he was a member of the Flagstaff Poetry Slam Team. His computer has had poems published in the compilation Abstract|Ext in Spain and the visual poetry journal Utsanga in Italy. Upon arrival in Santa Cruz 6 years ago, it was his goal to achieve the sensation of feeling 'normal'. He has never expressed or written anything remotely sarcastic. His new book might be inside-out enough. It's called 'subrealism'.

All ages, styles, backgrounds, beliefs, and needs are welcomed.

Respect is expected.

See you there,
The Legendary Collective
